Well Obama made a clean sweep straight through Massachusetts. When you look at the results by county the entire state shines blue. Historically Massachusetts has gone to the Democratic candidate so it's no surprise that Obama took the 12 electoral votes.
After the polls closed and the votes were counted Obama received 62% of the vote to McCain's 36%.
In every single county Obama received at least double the amount of votes McCain did. Voters 45-64 made up of 44% of the vote compared to 19% of the vote being made up of 18-29 year olds. This is really fascinating to me because when the election is broken down Obama did extremely well with voters in the age range of 45-64. We also saw this in Ohio. While Massachusetts was a given to go to Obama he made great strides in turning out voters.
48% of the voters were males and 52% of the voters were females and Obama pulled in 55% of the male vote.
In the 2004 election Kerry also carried this state strongly. He not only won the 12 electoral votes but he also did very well amongst males.
